Project Vanguard doesn't just talk about connecting veterans to the energy industry — we show up. On the road, in your city, on your screen, and in the rooms where policy gets made. Here's how we make the mission real.
Project Vanguard's signature road campaign — a multi-city barnstorm across the energy capital of America, connecting veterans face-to-face with employers, community leaders, and each other.
The Texas Tour, led by Project Vanguard and funded by the American Clean Power Association, grounds national energy conversations in local voices and uncovers the stories of local power fueling the lives and livelihoods of everyday Americans.
Over multiple stops across key Texas districts, the tour highlights wind, solar, and storage projects that demonstrate how clean energy creates jobs, strengthens communities, and advances U.S. energy security. At each stop, Project Vanguard brings together local officials, veterans, energy workers, and community members for site visits and evening community events.
Each stop features live podcast tapings with local veteran energy leaders, hiring events with regional employers, skills workshops, and community mixers that build authentic relationships leading to real careers.

Get Updates →Beyond the Texas Tour, Vanguard community leaders host local networking events in their cities throughout the year — creating consistent, on-the-ground opportunities for veterans to build professional relationships in energy.
Every major energy city has a Vanguard community leader hosting regular happy hours, coffee meetups, lunch-and-learns, and after-work networking sessions. These aren't stiff career fairs — they're authentic gatherings where veterans in energy meet veterans trying to break into energy.
Local events are tailored to each city's energy landscape. In Houston, you'll find upstream and midstream professionals. In Pittsburgh, it's natural gas and petrochemicals. In Phoenix, solar and grid infrastructure.
These consistent touchpoints keep the Vanguard network alive between major events and ensure that no veteran trying to enter the energy industry has to navigate the process alone.
When the energy industry gathers, Vanguard shows up. We organize veteran meetups, dinners, and networking sessions at the biggest conferences in energy.
Major energy conferences are where hiring decisions are made, partnerships are formed, and industry direction is set. Project Vanguard organizes satellite meetups and networking dinners at marquee events, ensuring that veterans are connecting with the executives and policymakers who shape the industry.
We partner with leading organizations including RE+, American Clean Power, Conservative Energy Network, American Energy Service Professionals (AESP), and Cleantech Leaders Roundtable.
Our conference meetups are curated gatherings — not open cattle calls. Community leaders personally invite veteran attendees, connect them with relevant contacts before the event, and facilitate introductions on-site.
Veterans built this country's energy infrastructure. They should have a voice in the policies that govern it.
Vanguard's legislative days bring veteran energy professionals to state capitols and Washington D.C. to meet with legislators, testify before committees, and advocate for policies that support veteran workforce development in energy.
Community leaders receive messaging frameworks and media training through the Speakers Bureau so they can articulate Vanguard's three core pillars: veteran workforce development, all-of-the-above American energy dominance, and energy security as national security.
Legislative days also build relationships that extend beyond a single visit — creating ongoing channels between veteran energy professionals and the policymakers who write the rules for the industry they work in.
Project Vanguard isn't just an energy organization — it's a civic force. Our community leaders embed themselves in the local institutions where workforce development and community planning happen.
Vanguard community leaders attend local permitting meetings for energy projects — from pipeline expansions to solar farms. By showing up as veteran energy professionals, our leaders demonstrate community support for responsible energy development.
Rotary clubs, Lions clubs, Kiwanis chapters, and local chambers of commerce. Vanguard community leaders attend and speak at these gatherings, sharing veteran energy stories, building local awareness, and recruiting supporters.
Regional economic development corporations, port authorities, and industrial development boards drive infrastructure decisions. Vanguard positions veteran workforce development as a competitive advantage for regions recruiting energy investment.
Vanguard partners with state workforce commissions, community colleges, trade schools, and VSOs to participate in job fairs, career workshops, and training program showcases that connect veterans with apprenticeships, certifications, and employers.
