The Texas Tour

The 2025 Texas Tour, led by Project Vanguard and funded by the American Clean Power Association, grounds national energy conversations in local voices and uncovers the stories of local power fueling the lives and livelihoods of everyday Americans.

Over five stops across key Texas districts, the tour highlights wind, solar, and storage projects that demonstrate how clean energy creates jobs, strengthens communities, and advances U.S. energy security. At each stop, Project Vanguard brings together local officials, veterans, energy workers, and community members for site visits and evening community events to share stories, build relationships, and find common ground in the energy powering Texas and securing America’s future.

Podcast Highlights:

  • Agrivoltaics is vegetation management. When developers bring grazers in early, they save money, reduce headaches, and build community trust.
  • Agrivoltaics is not free grazing, it is vegetation management. Done right, it strengthens projects, keeps land productive, and opens real pathways for veterans.
  • Picture a 193 megawatt solar site with roughly 1,200 sheep on patrol. Each one needs three to seven gallons of water a day. If you treat that as free grazing, it fails. Treat it as a service with checklists, water logistics, and predator defense, it works.
